If you have a 3D printer, you can download instructions to make a lot of stuff. And while many of these designs look cool, not all of them stand up to expectations … literally.
Computer scientist Emily Whiting wants to fix that. She and fellow researchers at ETH Zürich in Switzerland have developed a super cool / crazy algorithm to make it wayyy easier to make 3D-printed designs that keep their balance — like monsters that can hold yoga poses, bears poised in breakdancing moves or giant T-Rexes balanced on tiny legs.
